How do I get the CAPM certification?
To be a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification, follow these steps:
- Review Eligibility Requirements: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria set by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
- Prepare for the Exam: Familiarize yourself with the CAPM Exam Content Outline, which outlines the knowledge areas, tasks, and skills tested in the exam. Utilize study materials such as textbooks, online courses, practice exams, and study guides to prepare effectively.
- Submit Application: Apply for the CAPM exam through the PMI website or a PMI-authorized training provider. Provide details about your educational background, project management education, and contact information in your application.
- Application Review: PMI will review your application to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements. Once your application is approved, you will receive confirmation and instructions for scheduling your exam.
- Schedule and Take the Exam: Schedule your CAPM exam at a designated testing center. The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions covering project management processes, terminology, and best practices. Prepare thoroughly and ensure you’re ready for the exam day.
Eligibility

Pre-requisites
To be eligible for the CAPM exam, you must meet one of the following criteria:
A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or global equivalent).
OR
23 hours of formal project management education from a PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.), accredited university or college, or any other recognized global provider. Alternatively, if you don’t have a secondary degree, you can substitute it with 1,500 hours of project management experience.
